Obituary of James Basil JR
James A. Basil, Jr.
Age 86, of Morris and formerly of Chicago, passed away Thursday May 5, 2011 at Morris Hospital.
He was born in Evanston, IL. February 19, 1925 to the late Anna (Ueber) and James A. Basil. He obtained Bachelor degrees from University of Notre Dame and Roosevelt University.
He is survived by his wife Jean (Ehrhardt) Basil, whom he married February 28, 1946. Two daughters, Barbara (Gary) Petrovich and Patricia (the late Richard) Johnson. Three grandchildren, Kristen (Jason) Hemmersbach, Erick (Lori) Johnson and Brian (Cindy) Johnson. Three great grandchildren, Katie and Justin Hemmersbach and Kesli Johnson. One brother, Richard (Marion) Basil and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Jim retired as Plant Manager of Reichhold Chemicals in Morris; former board chairman of the Will-Grundy Manufacturers Association, and former member of the Morris Hospital Board of Directors.
A US Navy veteran, he enjoyed gardening, golf and fishing.
Funeral services for James A. Basil, Jr. will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2011, 9:45 a.m. to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 516 E. Jackson St., Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Immaculate Conception School would be appreciated. Visitation Monday 3-8 p.m. at:
