Obituary of Gordon Martin

Gordon H. Martin Age 88. Peacefully Friday, October 14, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side. Born in Forest Park, IL, and a longtime Western Springs resident before relocating to Joliet in 2008. A graduate of Yale with a degree in mechanical engineering. A World War II and Korean War U. S. Marine veteran. Retired from the Crane Company in Chicago after over 40 years of service. A life member of the V.F.W. Post #10778 in Western Springs and the American Legion Post #1941 in LaGrange, IL. One of Gordon's greatest loves in life was volunteering at Hines Veterans Hospital to help his fellow veterans any way he could. He had a passion for golf and loved the Chicago Cubs. Preceded by his wife, Naomi Martin, his parents, and one sister. Survived by his son, Gary (Mary) (Nee Link) Martin of Joliet; and four granddaughters, Michelle (Fiancé James Wendling), Gina, Melissa and Caroline Martin. Funeral services for Gordon H. Martin will be Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst.
