Joseph E. Mateski
"Bookie"
Age 86. Sunday, November 30, 2008 at his late New Lenox residence with his family by his side. Born September 1, 1922 in Joliet to the late Stanley and Rose (nee Subka) Mateski, and a lifelong area resident. Graduate of Joliet Central High School. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Retired from Weber's Dairy and Prairie Farms where he was a delivery truck driver for 40 years, and a member of Teamster's Local #179. Joe enjoyed fishing, vacationing with his wife and family in northwest Wisconsin, and going to the Casino.
Survived by one son, Mark J. (Teri) Mateski of New Lenox; one daughter, Sandra Mateski of Joliet; three grandchildren, Jason Mateski of New Lenox, Aaron (Timarie) Mateski of Joliet and Lindsay Mateski of New Lenox; one great-granddaughter, his little sunshine, Paige Marie Mateski; one sister, Helen (John) Giacoletto; one brother, Clarence (Mary) Mateski; one sister-in-law, Esther Mateski; and dearest friend, Alma Kolodziej. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded by his wife, Florence Marie (nee Slachta) Mateski (January 27, 2008); parents; twin daughters in infancy; one brother, Stanley Mateski; and two sisters, Josephine (Charles) McCauley and Bernadine Mateski.
Funeral services for Joseph E. Mateski will be Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Bernard Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorial in his name to Trinity Services would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday, from 4 until 9 p.m. at:
