Sister Pamela Matlosz, OSF
Sister Pamela Matlosz, OSF (1944 - 2009) died peacefully at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home on August 22, 2009. Born in Chicago, IL on June 14, 1944, she was the beloved daughter of Alice (Muszalski) Matlosz and the late Joseph Matlosz. She was the sister of Dennis (Barbara) Matlosz of Northfield, Ohio. Sister Pamela was a treasured member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate (Joliet) for 46 years.
Sister Pamela attended St. Michael and St. Mary Magdalene Parish schools in Chicago and graduated from SS. Peter and Paul High School in Chicago. She entered the Joliet Franciscans from St. Mary Magdalene Parish, Chicago Illinois in 1962. She received her Bachelor's Degree at the College of St. Francis (now the University of St. Francis) in Joliet and her Masters of Religious Education from Seattle University.
Sister Pamela taught fifth grade at St. Raymond Grade School in Joliet, IL in 1966-1967. From 1967 - 1973 she taught Grade 2 at St. Pius X in Lombard, IL. After ministering for one year as a Religious Education Coordinator in Scottsdale, AZ, Sister Pamela served ten years at St. Raphael, Naperville, IL and three years at St. Michael, Wheaton, IL in that same ministry. In 1987 she became Director of Adult Religious Education at St. Isidore, Bloomingdale, IL. In 1993 she began fifteen years of ministry at Warrenville Cenacle, Warrenville, IL serving as part of the Retreat Ministry Staff; Retreat Coordinator and Spiritual Director. In 1908 she ministered to her family in Oswego, IL.
The wake will be at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, IL (Wyoming and Rt. 30) on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, from 2:00 - 6:45 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 4:45 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Procession will leave from Our Lady of Angels on Thursday morning, August 27, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. The Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate, 1433 Essington Road, Joliet, IL 60435. Arrangements by:
