Clyde E. Mayfield
Age 88. Passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008 at his Joliet residence surrounded by his devoted family. Born and raised in Southside, TN he was a resident of Joliet since 1941. A member of the United Auto Workers, he retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. A veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and restoring and painting cars.
Father of Stephen (Jan) Mayfield of Shorewood, MN, Vicki Gilley of Joliet, Betty (Jim) Burns of Joliet, Kevin (Donell) Mayfield of Golden Valley, AZ and Malcolm Mayfield of New Lenox. Father-in-law of Ernie Pehlke of Joliet. Brother of Homer (Marie) Mayfield of Ashland City, TN. Seventeen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and several other relatives also survive.
Preceded by his wife, Maggie; three daughters, Wendy Pehlke, Roberta and Karen; two sons, Dale and Ross; two grandsons, Brian Pehlke and Darrell Loftis; one sister, Frances Proctor and one brother, J.B. Mayfield.
Funeral services for Clyde E. Mayfield will be Friday, May 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park with Military Honors. Memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday, 4 to 8 at:
