Obituary of Bernadette McAvene

McAvene, Bernadette A. (nee Kwasneski) Age 84. At rest Friday, August 5, 2011 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County. Born in Joliet to the late William and Sophie (Baranowski) Kwasneski, she was a lifelong resident. Formerly employed by Bull Towing, Joliet Bridge and Plainfield Molding. Member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Bernadette enjoyed ceramics and bingo, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her loving husband of 54 years, Joseph M. McAvene, Sr. of Joliet; four children, Daniel (Ann) McGowan of Crest Hill, Kathleen (Paul) Brown of Shorewood, Colleen O'Connor of Joliet and Joseph McAvene (friend Tamara Barnes), Jr. of Joliet; nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren; her sister, Louise (late John) Jurisic of Joliet; daughter-in-law, Kathy McGowan of Naperville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her first husband, Paul McGowan (1955); son, Patrick McGowan (1993); her parents; two brothers, James and William Kwasnieski. Funeral Services for Bernadette McAvene will be Monday, August 8, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to Holy Cross Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Enshrinement Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
