Obituary of James McCann

James J. McCann "Moe" Age 86, of Plainfield, passed away, Sunday, July 26, 2009 at his late residence. Born in Joliet to the late James J. and Lillian (nee Donahoe) McCann, he was a long time resident. Retired to Florida in 1988, he retired to Plainfield in 2008. Graduate of Joliet Catholic High School. A WWII veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Formerly employed by Argonne National Laboratories for 35 years. Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Edna (nee Weber) McCann of Plainfield; seven children, Patrick (Janet) McCann of Wilmette, Maureen (late Greg) Selfridge of Vernon Hills, Kevin (Rhanda) McCann of Irvine, CA, Mary (John) Ward of Joliet, Edwin (JoAnne) McCann of Chino, CA, John McCann of Fountain Valley, CA and Alice (Michael) Gorman of Peoria, IL; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his two sons, Timothy (2006) and Dennis "Boomer" (2007). Funeral Services for James J. McCann will be Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Anne Catholic Church, Crest Hill for a Memorial Mass at 11:30 a.m. Private inurnment Resurrection Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Morningstar Mission, 350 E. Washington St., Joliet 60433 would be appreciated.
