Obituary of Clara McGann

Clara F. McGann nee Zuchowski Age 92, passed away peacefully, Saturday August 1, 2009 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home. Born April 12, 1917 in Joliet to the late Michael and Mary (nee Rybacki) Zuchowski, she was a lifetime resident. A graduate of Joliet Township High School, Class of 1931, Clara also was a 1935 graduate of St. Joseph School of Nursing. Surviving are two sons, Thomas (Teddy) McGann of Joliet and Gerald (Patricia) McGann of Channahon/Tucson, AZ. Five daughters, Elaine (Michael) Brukwicki of Monroe, WI., Marsha (Steven, M.D.) Driggers of Manitowoc, WI., Mary Michaels of Ottawa,IL., Carol Jean McGann of Shorewood and Jane (Hal) Choisser of Channahon. One daughter-in-law Debbie McGann of Battle Creek, MI. Beloved grandmother of 20 and great grandmother of 31. A sister-in-law Margaret Zuchowski and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew Thomas Cherven also survive. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. McGann (1971), son Terrence (1999), her parents, two grandsons, Michael Brukwicki and in infancy James P. McGann; a sister Agnes (Robert) Vranesic and a brother Edward Zuchowski. Mrs. McGann was a registered nurse at St. Joseph Medical Center from the time she graduated in 1935, until she retired in 1982. A member of St. Joseph School of Nursing Alumni, the Servants of Mary Society, St. Mary Magdalene Church and the Senior Services Center. The McGann family would like to acknowledge the entire staff of Sunny Hill Nursing Home for their compassion, care and friendship over the years. Funeral services for Clara F. McGann will be held Wednesday August 5, 2009, 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. Memorials in her name to St. Mary Magdalene Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at: FRED C.
