Obituary of Dorothy McGowan

Dorothy A. McGowan "Dodie" Age 81, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Born January 5, 1929 in Joliet to the late James V. and Margaret M. (Turner) McGowan, she was raised in Lockport, attending Sacred Heart grade school and graduating from Providence Catholic High School. After graduating Beauty School, Dorothy opened her Salon in Joliet where she offered hair care and good conversation for many years at "Dodie's Beauty Shop". She is survived by her sister Virginia "Jean" McGowan of Joliet and several cousins and friends. Preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, LaVerne P. and James V. McGowan. Dodie was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick Church and their "55 Club". She enjoyed playing cards. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 3, 2010, 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 710 W. Marion St., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville.
