Obituary of Dorothy Meredith

Meredith, Dorothy B. (nee Alton) Age 78, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Watseka Memorial Hospital. Born in Joliet September 21, 1932 to the late Charles and Juanita (nee Abbott) Alton, she was a lifelong resident of Elwood, IL. Beloved mother of Sally (Chuck) Franke and Debbie (Daniel) Tordai; dearest grandmother of Casie (Tim) Hough, Jill and Jeff Franke; Christine (Tim) Wilhelmi, Dan (Renee) Tordai and Adam Tordai; proud great-grandmother of Ashley Franke, Annabelle Hough, Daniel, Tyler, Hailey and Makayla Tordai. Also survived by one brother, Gerald (Terry) Alton; one sister, Patti (late Bill) Fagan; sister-in-law, Jessie Alton; dearest friends of over 50 years, Don and Marilyn Wentzlof and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Floyd (2008); her parents; three brothers, Jack, Charles and Donald Alton and one sister, Mildred Alton. Dorothy worked in food service as a waitress and cook. She was also a bartender for many years at the former Bill's Inn of Elwood. She enjoyed bingo, conversation, and a good laugh. Funeral Services for Dorothy B. Meredith will be Monday, March 21, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Maple Hill Cemetery in Elwood.
