Obituary of Edwin Meyer

Meyer, Edwin August Age 91. Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, July 21, 2011. Survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Leona B. (nee Fox) Meyer. He was the loving father of Nancy (Rich) Overall and Bruce (Diane) Meyer; and dearest grandfather of Brian (Beth) Overall, Stephen (Sarah) Meyer, Lisa Meyer, and Carolyn Meyer. He was the great-grandfather of Macy, Emma, Lucy, and Jonathan Overall; also the uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma (Hacker) Meyer; and his brother, George C. Meyer. Edwin was born on October 26, 1919 in Troy Township where he resided on the family farm all of his life. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where he served as an elder, as a member of the Church Council and on the School Board. He also served on the Troy School Board. Edwin loved God; he loved his family and his cherished friends. He will always be remembered for his gentle, cheerful, and giving spirit. Edwin August Meyer will Lie in State on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 310 N. Broadway, Joliet from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 10:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Peter Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
