Meyer, Harold E. "Hal"
Age 80, of Shorewood, IL, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011. Born August 30, 1930 in St. Louis, MO to the late LeRoy and Henrietta (Figge) Meyer. A US Air Force Veteran, Hal retired from Material Service in 2004 after 27 years of service. Previously employed by Paducah Marine Ways for 3 years and St. Louis Ship for 25 years. A member of the Knights of Columbus (4th degree).
Beloved husband of Ellie (Tueth) Meyer; Father of Kort (Paula) Meyer, Kim (Tom) Gannon, Kapreece (Jim) Toth, Kristee Meyer, Terri (Elbert) Reniva, Jeffrey (Colette) Meyer and Karen (Matt) Burmeister. Also survived by 22 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one sister Ruth Pratt and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Fred, two sisters, Anna McGrath and Lucille Brown; his first wife Donnie J. (Spooner), son Stephen as well as one granddaughter.
Hal, a skilled craftsman with a big heart and generous spirit, could always be counted on to advise, lend a hand or a tool, or gladly complete a project any time he was asked. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He also enjoyed woodworking and being generous to kids. He was also a fan of the Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday April 22, 2011, 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to the American Diabetes Assn., the American Heart Association or Make a Wish Foundation. Visitation Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at:
