Age 94. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Timbers of Shorewood. Born in Wilmington and a lifelong Joliet area resident. Retired from Joliet Federal Savings and Loan after many years of service. Formerly employed at Sears, Uniroyal and the Joliet Arsenal. Member of St. John Catholic Church. President of the Sacred Heart League and the St. John's Mother's Club. She was an avid bowler for the past 50 years.
Preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Meyer; one son Charles J.; her parents, Arthur and Rosella (nee Christensen) Steffes; three sisters, Lila (William) Rehberg, Rosemary (Ken) Mastin and Eleanor (Fred) St. Germain; seven brothers, Virgil (Ruth), Leo (Audrey), Donald, Arthur Jr., Gerald, Wesley and Lloyd E. Steffes.
Survived by two daughters, Linda (Jim) Ruhl and Cynthia (Frank) Brandeis; three sons, Lawrence (Donna) Meyer, Raymond (Rose) Meyer, and Edwin Meyer; two sisters, Gladys (the late Eddie) Mattox of Shorewood, and Betty (the late Jack) Kinsella of Minooka; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; dear sister-in-law of Lorraine Steffes, Lois Steffes, Barbara Price and Debbie Steffes; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services for Margaret J. Meyer will be Monday, December 5, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. John Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice, Joliet Catholic Academy or St. John Catholic Church would be appreciated. Visitation Today, Sunday 2-7 p.m. at:
