Verneta W. Miller
"Mickey"
(nee McGowan)
Age 82. Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home following a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born November 1, 1927 to the late Paul and Irene (Murphy) McGowan. A longtime Joliet area resident. Graduate of Peotone High School, Class of 1945. Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and later in life retired from Wieboldt's Department Store. Member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Cantigny Post V.F.W. #367 Ladies Auxillary and the Senior Club of Joliet. A longtime member of the Senior Bowling League. An avid bowler who enjoyed bingo and playing cards with her grandchildren.
Survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jim Miller of Joliet; five children, Dave (Amy) Miller of Joliet, Kathy (Mark) Wiley of Russellville, AR, Patrick Miller of Glendale, AZ, Tim (Flo) Miller of Crest Hill and Paul Miller of Joliet; eight grandchildren, Paula (Doug) Auckland, Kieth (fiance' Jessie Harden) Miller, Kevin and Melissa Miller, Michelle (Josh) Johnston, Thomas Wiley, Laurie and Jennifer Miller; two great-grandchildren, Aden Miller and Ava Auckland; three sisters, Mary (late Raymond) Keigher of Elwood, Audrey (Hank) Juban of Lockport and Grace (Tom) Russell of Elmhurst; her sister in law, Mary McGowan of Manhattan, IL; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her parents and one brother Dick McGowan.
Funeral Services for Mickey Miller will be Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday 2-8 p.m. at:
