Wanda R. Papesh
"Busia"
(nee Zielinski)
Age 86. Went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 21,2008, with her loving children and grandchildren by her side. Born in Joliet, the daughter of the late Vincent and Teofila Zielinski, she was a lifelong resident. Member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and the South Wilmington Sportsman's Club. Wanda enjoyed the outdoors, and was especially fond of fishing. She was an avid bingo player, and was a member of the "Birthday Club". She marched with the Polish Falcons in the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. Wanda was a loving mother and "Busia" to her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her five loving children, Lana, Joseph, Mary Ellen, David (Denise) Papesh and Janet (Thomas) Diamond; beloved Busia of Mary (Brett) Callier, Tricia Papesh, David Papesh, Janel Venegas, Katherine and Emily Diamond; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Quinn Callier and Alex Parks; two brothers, Vincent (late Violet) and Fr. Casimir Zielinski, O.Carm; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband Joseph "Shoes" Papesh (2000); her parents; two sisters, Martha (Michael) Venardi and Eleanor (John) Ksiazak; and one brother, Bernard Zielinski.
Funeral Services for Wanda R. Papesh will be Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to Holy Cross Catholic Church for a Mass celebrating her life at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Cross Catholic Church Restoration Fund or the Disabled American Veterans would be appreciated. Visitation TODAY, FRIDAY 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at:
