James J. Parker
"Jim"
Age 91, of Channahon and formerly of Joliet, died peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Born in Creston, IL on October 1, 1916 to the late George and Anna (nee Concannon) Parker. A graduate of Fenger High School.
Beloved husband of 37 years to Sharon K. (nee Whitaker); loving father of James J. (Laurie) Parker, Jr. of Hobart, IN, Jerry L. (Janet) Parker of Buckingham, IL, Lori A. Vaughn of Gardner, IL and Jeffery T. (Deborah) McQuen of Dwight, IL; proud grandfather of 11; dear great-grandfather of 19; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Isabella Hawkinson; one sister-in-law, Rose Parker; also survived by his in-laws, Charles (Sharon) Whitaker, Nancy (Richard) Yudzentis, and Mary (Dennis) Bogart; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Edgar, George, Chuck and Pete Parker; and one sister, Lou.
Jim was a proud Veteran of WWII, who served in the Army. He retired from the Sisters of St. Francis after serving for many years in maintenance at the Mother House on Plainfield Road. He was an avid bingo player, who was a skilled woodworker and craftsman.
The Parker Family would like to thank the "Super Team" of nurses at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center and Joliet Area Community Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
Funeral Services for James J. Parker will be Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Joseph Newton officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Monday 3-8 p.m. at:
