Obituary of James Patch
James T. Patch
"Jim"
Age 81, passed away peacefully, Saturday November 6, 2010 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
He was born September 8, 1929 in Joliet, to the late Charles and Alice (Kelly) Patch and was a lifelong Joliet resident. A graduate of Joliet Catholic High School with the class of 1948. He retired as Plant Manager of Rustcraft Greeting Card Co. (Gerlach-Barklow). After a very short-lived retirement, Jim joined the Workforce Services of Will County as a Career Advisor, enjoying his "second career" actively until his passing. He was also a member of Joliet Moose Lodge #300 and past president of Rustcraft Management Club.
He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Dorothy (Muren) Patch; loving father of Jana (Bill) Crouse of Bolingbrook; and proud grandfather of Dylan Crouse, Lauren Crouse and step-grandson Austin Crouse. Several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary (late Mario) Perilongo and Sally (Sr. Carol, O.S.F.) Patch; and his wife's parents, Tony and Frances Muren.
Jim, a people person with a wonderful sense of humor, will be dearly missed. His genuine character and warm and caring personality will long be remembered. He held a deep devotion for St. Jude, loved reading, and enjoyed "old school" comedy such as Laurel and Hardy movies which were a big part of his collection along with TV classics. His greatest and most satisfying moments, however, were realized while spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
The Patch family will always be grateful to the physicians, nurses and staff of Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Jim really enjoyed their friendly and caring ways, and our family sensed that the feeling was mutual. The care and compassion of everyone at the hospital, as well as at the hospice home was and always will be much appreciated.
Funeral services for Jim Patch will be held Friday, November 12, 2010, 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at:
