John R. Petak
"Jake"
Age 97. Passed away peacefully Friday, April 25, 2008, with his family at this side. Born January 27, 1911 in Midvale, UT to the late John and Anna (nee Mutz) Petak, he had resided in Joliet for the past 85 years. He was a man of faith and patriotism, who inspired his family with a strong work ethic. He was a millwright at ROW Window Company in Rockdale, retiring in 1975; and was formerly employed as a molder at Moores Stove Works in Joliet. Member of the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph Parish, the Moran A.C., Old Timers Baseball Association, St. John KSKJ and a lifetime member of the Molders Union. He was very proud of the Moran Benevolent Club, which he was a member of for 39 years. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Survived by one son, James (Rita) Petak of Minooka; one daughter, Janice (Jack) Rossetto of Channahon; five grandchildren, Michael (Laura) Petak, Robert (Miranda) Petak; Karen, Andrea and Lynn Rossetto; one very special great-grandson, Jake Petak; two sisters, Mayme Rezick and Julie Fitzgerald; two sisters-in-law, Bernie Petak and Marge Gasperich; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his devoted wife of 65 years, Mary C. (nee Gasperich); parents; one brother, Tony Petak; and three sisters, Ann Petak, Tillie Womeldorf, and Elizabeth Emerson.
John's Family would like to extend their gratitude to Linda, Michelle, Ruby and Sandy of Joliet Area Community Hospice for their loving and devoted care; also a special friend, Mary Fran Smaron.
Funeral Services for John R. Petak will be Monday, April 28, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Joseph Parish Restoration Fund would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 3-7 p.m. at:
