Obituary of Mary Peters

Mary Josephine Peters (nee Talarico) Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family at the age 88 years on Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Mary was born on May 30, 1923 in Joliet, to the late Fred and Florence (Dinelli) Talarico. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Charles B. Peters; her sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Jack Odenthal; brother, Thomas Talarico; and beloved son-in-law, Gene Goron. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who adored her family and loved spending time with them. Mary was an avid traveler and beach enthusiast. She loved vacationing with her family and grandchildren at Ponce Inlet, FL. Mary was a former active volunteer with St. Joseph's Women's Auxiliary and St. Joseph's Thrift Store. She was employed by Wieboldt's Department Store and the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant. She is survived by her loving children, Susan (John) Muffo, Jody (late Gene) Goron, and John (LuAnn) Peters. Mary is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael (Amy), Christopher, and Patrick (Jelena) Muffo; Adam and Andrew Goron; Sara and Ryan Peters; and her great-grandson, Aleksandar Antonio Muffo. Also surviving are her sister, Rosemarie (Francis) Zarley; brother, Fred (Theresa) Talarico; her sister-in-law, Helen Talarico; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary's family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the Joliet Area Community Hospice and the Alternative Home Placement Services for their compassionate care. Funeral Services for Mary Josephine Peters will be Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of St. Anthony for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
