Obituary of Geraldine Peterson

Peterson, Geraldine S. "Gerry" (nee Roder) Age 92, a lifetime Joliet resident, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Born September 24, 1919 to the late Alice (nee Fox) and Louis Roder, Gerry attended St. Raymond Grade School and graduated with the Class of 1937 from St. Francis Academy. Survived by two sons, Jeffrey J. (Norene) Peterson of Crest Hill and James G. Peterson; two granchildren, Amber and Jeffrey Peterson both of Crest Hill; one brother, Tom (Renee) Roder; she was a devoted aunt of many nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own children. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert F. "Pete" Peterson who passed away on the same day in 2009; her parents; siblings, Rich (late Elizabeth) Roder, Rita (late Robert) Nevin, Jack (late Patricia) Roder and Mickey (late Bob) Brehn. Gerry was employed years ago by Texaco Inc., Lockport. She enjoyed volunteering at both Silver Cross and St. Joseph Hospitals. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, the CCW and previously Holy Family Parish. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of Gerry's friends she had made over the years, including all the nurses and staff of Our Lady of Angels for all their care and compassion during this difficult time. Funeral Services for Geraldine S. Peterson will be Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Ave., Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Our Lady of Angels would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at Our Lady of Angels. Arrangements by: FRED C.
