Obituary of Donna Pohl

Donna Jean Pohl Age 77, of Joliet passed away peacefully, October 9, 2011 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home. Born July 25, 1934 in Joliet and a lifelong resident. Attended the Joliet Township High School and a graduate of MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois with a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Psychology. Retired from Provena St. Joseph Medical Center after more than 35 years of service, Donna was instrumental in the development of the mental health unit at Provena St. Joseph. She will be remembered for her commitment to helping many people through difficult times. She was formerly employed by the Will County States Attorney's office, assisting them with clinical evaluations. Early in her career, Donna worked at the Jacksonville State Mental Hospital. She was an avid fan of the Cubs, the Bulls and the Bears and enjoyed collecting memorabilia. Preceded in death by her parents Melvin E. (1976) and Rosalind P. (nee Pence) Pohl (2007), and one brother Ronald K. Pohl (2001) and sister-in-law Carroll Pohl. Survived by her sister Elizabeth (Raymond) Hucek, nieces Mari (Braum) Fenili and Lauren Hucek, all of Joliet. Also surviving nieces and nephews Gary (Amy) Pohl and Steve (Joyce) Pohl of Alaska, Leslie Pohl of Oregon and Lisa (Randall) Barnett of Louisiana. Funeral services for Donna Jean Pohl will be Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Rev. Matthew T. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Will County Humane Society and The Joliet Area Community Hospice in her memory will be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, from 3-8 p.m. at: FRED C.
