Obituary of Harry Benton JR

Harry J. Benton, Jr. "Jim" Age 60. Late of Crest Hill, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at his home after a valiant battle against cancer. He was born September 1, 1946 in Oak Park, IL to Harry J. Benton Sr. and the late Evelyn (nee Shagrue) Benton. A United States Navy Veteran and graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Jim was employed for many years at the Wall Street Journal in Naperville. He was also a member of the Mailers Union, the Knights of Columbus and a volunteer at the Daybreak Shelter. Loving husband of 23 years to Carol A. (nee Hray) Benton; beloved father of Erika N. and Harry J. III "Jimmy"; proud Papi of Sydney M. Benton. He is also survived by his father; two sisters, Judi (Al) Utley and Susie (Cy) Langridge; two brothers, Tom and Bill (Chay) Benton; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his mother. As it was Jim's wish, cremation rites have been accorded. All friends and relatives are invited to meet Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at 12:15 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood where committal prayers and full military honors will take place at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to his family would be appreciated.
