Carol Bentson

Obituary of Carol Bentson

Bentson, Carol Ann (Hulthen) Age 74, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 in Mission Hills, CA. Born in New Jersey of Scandinavian parents, the late Astrid Ada Hulthen (Carlson) and August Wilfred Hulthen. Carol was one of three first generation children born in the United States. Her family later relocated to the Midwest. While attending nursing school in Michigan, she met a soldier whom she married and referred to as 'her greatest love.' She was a registered nurse who began her career in maternity and ended it as a wound care specialist for the elderly. She was past president of St. Patrick's Council of Catholic Women. Carol greatly enjoyed her family and did not hesitate to become involved in any project. She always came to help no matter what the need was; whether it was caring for children, life counseling, baking, painting, or ironing clothes. She loved the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls, and was an avid fan of mystery and romance novels. Holiday decorating was her area of expertise. There would be no empty nook or cranny at Christmas time. She truly was a person who loved unconditionally and was a woman of great strength and inspiration. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Raymond Bentson; brother, Malcolm R. (Jean) Hulthen. Survived by three children, Pamela A. (Craig H.) Geyer, Christopher J. Bentson, and Peggy A. (Douglas K.) Runyon; proud grandmother to six grandchildren, Nina M. Bentson, Kevin D. Posey, Nicholas R. Posey, Zachary T. Posey, Rylee A. Runyon, Austin J. Runyon, with a third grandchild due in May 2011; two step-grandchildren, Morgan C. Geyer and Danielle A. Geyer; one brother, Roger W.
