Obituary of Rose Pullara

Rose M. Pullara (nee Trizzino) Age 89, of Joliet, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center with her family by her side. Born June 21, 1920, in Joliet, IL, to Paul and Onofria "Sophie" (Panepinto) Trizzino. Rose was a lifelong resident of Joliet, attending Washington Grade School and Joliet Central High School. She married Peter Pullara on December 19, 1936. Rose was employed as a cafeteria supervisor for 35 years in Joliet School District 204. She worked at Joliet Central from 1959-1964, Joliet East from 1964-1983 and Joliet West from 1983 until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of St. Anthony's CCW and Altar and Rosary. In 1998, she was named Woman of the Year for St. Anthony's Church. Rose was a kind and giving person. She loved to cook and found happiness in providing delicious food for a crowd. No one ever left her house hungry, and she taught her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the joys of cooking and spending time with family. She faithfully attended the games and performances of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She positively impacted the lives of many people through her faith, her work and her compassion. Rose was a truly great mentor to everyone who knew her. Rose is survived by her brother, Richard (Judy) Trizzino of Joliet. Rose is also survived by her sons, Bernard Pullara of Joliet and Paul (Cheryl) Pullara of Minooka. She leaves twelve grandchildren to cherish her memory, Laurie (Mitch) Ramsey, Michael (Diane) Pullara, Peter (Jeanne) Pullara, Sally Pullara, David (Martine) Pullara, Steven (Mary Sue) Pullara, Bernard (Cindy) Pullara, Brian (Tasha) Pullara, Kevin (Kelly) Pullara, Joe (Lindsay) Pullara, Mark (Laura) Pullara, and Jason (late Tara) Pullara. Rose was blessed with twenty-six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jonathan, and Alexander Pullara, Alexis, Ariana, and Austin Pullara, Alyssa, Alayna, and Jacob Pullara, Steven, Luke, Josh, Ryan, and Morgan Pullara, Haley, Scot, Tanner (late), Madison, Bernard and Katerina Pullara, Nicole, Heaven, Starlene, and Brian Pullara, Gianna and Matteo Pullara. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary (in infancy), her brothers, Paul Trizzino (1997) and Eugene Trizzino (1998), her husband, Peter (1994), her son, Peter J. Pullara (2001), her grandson, Tanner (2008) and her granddaughter, Tara (Southcombe) Pullara (2009). Her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Onofrey Pullara, brother-in-law, John (Fran) Pullara, sister-in-law, Millie (late Joseph) Korst. Rose's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Rosewood Care Center and Joliet Area Community Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided. Funeral Services for Rose M. Pullara will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of St. Anthony in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred for future disbursement to several charitable organizations in Rose's name. Visitation Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 2-8 p.m. at: FRED C.
