Obituary of Mary Putrich
Mary A. Putrich
(nee Bajt)
Age 88, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Sunday May 23, 2010 at Provena Villa Franciscan.
Born September 3, 1921 to Ivan and Johanna Bajt, she resided in Joliet most of her life, other than a brief stay in Sewickley, PA. in her mid teens where she was proud of the opportunity to work for Dorothy Slack and her father, Judge John C. Slack, at the Braeface Manor in Sewickley. The home was a gathering place for musicians and for writers, such as Willa Cather.
Beloved wife of 44 years to the late John J. Putrich (1985). Loving mother of David (Jeannette) Putrich, Patricia Cross, Robert (Pamela) Putrich and Carol (Julius) Wojciechowski. Dearest grandmother of Rick (Missy) Cross, John (Cheryl) Cross, Mike (Robyn) Cross, Annette (Art) Peralta, Greg Putrich, Lara Rodriguez, Christopher (Jackie) Putrich and Michael Putrich. Proud great grandmother of Amy, Ricky, Kenny, Ashley, Nick and Vince. Cherished great great grandmother of Alyssa. Fond sister of Christine, Julie and Ann. Her sister-in-law Kay Bajt also survives, as well as her cousin Ann Mahelic and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, John and Joe Bajt.
Mary, a very religious woman, had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. She will fondly be remembered as a wonderful homemaker who loved to bake, cook and garden, and always looked forward to Christmas and family gatherings.
All friends and relatives are invited to gather on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until the mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 706 N. Broadway St., Joliet. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Morning Star Mission would be appreciated.
