Reddy, John
Age 86, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 at his home. Born September 4, 1925 in Detroit, MI, the son of Stephen and Loretto (nee Henneberry) Reddy. John graduated from Joliet Catholic High School Class of 1943, and Joliet Junior College Class of 1963. John began farming, and worked at the Joliet Arsenal, Blockson Chemical Company and Argonne National Laboratory. Following retirement, John and his wife, Marie, traveled extensively including two trips to the Holy Land.
John was active in his parish, St. Patrick Catholic Church. His involvement in the community included Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 228 in Rainbow Council, a 15-year volunteer at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, Will County Audubon Society, the Will County Forest Preserve, Rails to Trails, and Daybreak Shelter.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be missed. He will live in our hearts forever.
Preceded in death by his parents; son, Leo (1979); and siblings, Anna Marie Reddy, T. Joseph Reddy, Catherine Gualandi, Helen Smith, and Lucille Boyer.
Survived by his wife, Marie (nee Crawley) Reddy; one son, Bernard (Linda); three daughters, Marilyn (Mike Weidman) Reddy, Joan (Greg Boris) Reddy, and Janet (Dan) Schalk; six grandchildren, Brendan and Megan Reddy, Kate (Ryan Dump) Boris, and Caroline Boris, Emily (Tim) Dalton and Holly Weidman; great-grandson, Joshua Weidman; several cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for John Reddy will be Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington. Visitation Wednesday 3-7 p.m. at:
