Obituary of Mary Rezick

Mary S. Rezick (nee Petak) Age 99. Passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Born January 21, 1910 in Salt Lake City, UT to the late John and Anna (nee Mutz) Petak, she had resided in Joliet for the past 86 years. Survived by two daughters, Lois (Joseph) Turk of Joliet and Joan (the late John) Gray of Shorewood; one sister-in-law, Bernie Petak; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild who Mary was eagerly waiting to hold. Preceded in death by her husband, John Rezick (1975); her parents; two brothers, Tony and John Petak; four sisters, Ann Petak, Julie Fitzgerald, Tillie Womeldorff and Betty Emerson. Mary was a member of the Rosarian Club, Altar and Rosary Society, St. Genevieve Society of K.S.K.J. No. 8, Senior Parishioners of St. Joseph Church, Catholic Women's League and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No 3585. Mary enjoyed cooking, gardening, ceramics and baby-sitting for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary celebrated her 99th birthday just three weeks ago. She enjoyed a family celebration and a special party at Willow Falls with her favorite entertainer, Eddie Korosa Jr. Mary's family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Inn at Willow Falls for their loving and devoted care over the past five years, especially her dedicated caretakers, Ann and Carol. Her final days were made peaceful by the angelic workers at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. At her request, her remains were cremated and a final burial of cremains will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet. A private memorial Mass will be said in St. Joseph Catholic Church at a later date.
