Obituary of Robert Bernhard

Robert John Bernhard Age 78. Monday, September 15, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Robert was born November 10, 1929 in Joliet, raised in the Jackson Township area, he lived most of his life in the Shorewood area and late of Minooka. Dad began his career in farming near Peotone until he moved his family to the Shorewood farm in 1957, where he lovingly tended the land until he retired in 2005. He was actively involved with the Will County Threshermen's Association and a member of the Will County Farm Bureau. This was a man who truly made a difference. He was successful in what he did and was a deeply religious man who worked hard, stayed loyal to his family and knew everything there was to know about his business. He has the deep and abiding love of his family and will be truly missed. Survived by his wife, Shirley (nee Brooker) of 56 years; four sons, Larry Bernhard of Minooka, Dave (Laura) Bernhard of Wheaton, Steve (Lynn) Bernhard of Channahon and Robert (Rose) Bernhard of Mazon; eight grandchildren, Amy, Paula, Lindzie, Emily, Katie, Michael, Anthony and Stephanie; special step-granddaughter, Elizabeth; a brother, James (Dorothy) Bernhard of Jackson Township; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
