RUETTIGER, DANIEL OSCAR Age 89. Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Son and Brother. At rest Saturday, June 18, 2011 in his home in Wisconsin. Born and lived in Joliet, graduated St. Bernard Grade School and Joliet Catholic High School. WW II Army Veteran, fought in the Air Offensive Europe, S France,Tunisian, Sicilian Rome, Naples, Foggia. Awarded 10 honors serving his country. Member of St. Mary Magdalene Church, Member of the Knights of Columbus, CCD teacher, Retired as Process Supervisor of Union Oil Refinery. Retired to Wisconsin, member of St. John The Baptist Church, WI, Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society, WI. Providence Catholic Cor Unum Award 2004. Survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Jane "Betty" (Mandella). Grandfather of Joseph - infant deceased, Lisa, Tommy, Doug, Jessica, Daniel, Annie, Laurie, Magen, Bobbie Jo, Jeffrey, Hawk, Andrea, Melissa, Renee, Lynette, Vincent, Theresa, Dominic, Daniel, Jacob, Mary, Jaime, Shelley, Angela, Rebekah, Samantha, Katelyn, Johnny, Dougie, Diana, Elizabeth, Donika, Adem, Briana, Gabriella, Briton, Joseph, Kayla, Daniel Oscar, Alexa, Dominic, Maria, Michael, Matthew, Josh, Kyle and Cassie. Great Grandfather of 27. Preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Theresa (Sievert) Ruettiger and by brothers Robert - infant, Leo, Sylvester, Lambert, Bernard and sister, Lillian, OSF. Survived by sisters Eileen (Sam) Paul and Elizabeth (Louis Joutras deceased) (William) Brewer and brother Walter (Pat) Ruettiger. Funeral Services, Thursday, June 23 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Sterling and High Streets, Joliet where visitation at the church will be from 9 - 10:30 am and a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded. Memorials in his name to Providence Catholic or Joliet Catholic Academy would be appreciated.
