Obituary of Patricia Ruth

Patricia Ann "Patsy" Ruth (nee McCabe) Age 78, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Born October 24, 1933 in Joliet to the late Catherine (nee Bombassaro) and James P. McCabe, she was a lifelong resident. A graduate of St. Francis Academy, Class of 1951, Patricia received a Bachelor degree from the College of St. Francis in 1955. Patricia is survived by her devoted children and their spouses, Mary (Don) Hershman of Highland Park, IL, Tim (Kerry) Ruth of Hinsdale, Mike (Kathy) Ruth of Joliet, Kathryn (Mike) Meksto, Maureen (Rich) Gordon and Julie Mulhern all of Western Springs, IL. "Mimi" to sixteen caring grandchildren, Meredith and Sam Hershman, T.J., J.P. II (Kristen), Natalie, and Erin Ruth, Michael, Kelly, Brooke, and Jack Meksto, Elise and Olivia Gordon, Aidan, Liam, Fiona and Brenna Mulhern; one precious great granddaughter, Lillian Ruth; two sister-in-laws, Barbara McCabe of Joliet; and Mary Ann (Carl) Adams of Portsmouth, OH. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, many dear friends as well as her devoted and loving caregiver Rita Dabkeviciene and multi-generational friend of the family, Margaret Clarke also survive. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, J. Patrick Ruth; her parents; one brother James P. McCabe; and her father and mother-in-law, Otto and Catherine (nee Sweeny) Ruth. Patricia, the world's most loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and sister, will fondly be remembered as a genuine friend and a truly caring woman with a gentle, giving spirit. All friends and relatives are invited to gather Monday, July 9, 2012 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 N. Woodlawn Ave., Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood,IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Dr. James P. McCabe Scholarship Fund at the University of St. Francis, Joliet, Will County Center for Independent Living or the Senior Services Center of Will County would be appreciated.
