Obituary of Joseph Scheidt
Joseph H. Scheidt
Age 87. Passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Resided in Joliet all his life, and retired as a carpenter and contractor.
A Staff Sergeant with the U. S. Army in World War II serving in Rhineland and Ardennes, he was the recipient of three Overseas Service Bars, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Kay Scheidt; his parents, Joseph Sr. and Bertha (nee Ditton) Scheidt; his in-laws, Frank and Agnes (nee Fricke) Liess; his sisters, Cele (Harold) McDonald and Eleanor (John) Handel; his brothers-in-law, "Bud" Malinowski and Jack E. Palmer.
Survived by his wife, Norma (nee Liess) Scheidt; his son, Richard of Joliet; his daughter, Jonine (Becky Trevino) of Plainfield; his sister, Bertha (nee Scheidt) Malinowski of Merrill, WI; his brother, Howie (Joyce nee Carey) Scheidt of Joliet; his brother-in-law, Richard (Betty nee Harrison) Liess of Decatur, IL; his sister-in-law, Sally Palmer of Joliet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Joseph H. Scheidt will be Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel, where military rites will be accorded. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Trinity Services , New Lenox, would be appreciated.
