Obituary of Germaine Abel

Germaine Curran Abel (nee Dwyer) Age 82. Passed away Saturday, August 18, 2007 at home, with her beloved husband by her side. Born in 1925 in Greenville, OH to the late Denis and Cora Dwyer, she had been a resident of Joliet most of her life. A graduate of St. Francis Academy and the College of St. Francis. She was active in two golf leagues. Beloved mother of Jeffrey (Julie) Hunt-Curran, Valerie (Joel) Fina, Karen (Rick) Hulbert, Kevin Hunt-Curran, Mark (Fran) Hunt-Curran and Becky Kennedy; dear grandmother of Denis and Tim Curran, Michael and Nicholas Fina, Christopher and Brian Hulbert, Melissa (Troy) Fatlan, Kevin (Karen) Curran and Matt (Brittany) Curran, Dan, Tom and Matt Curran, Kaitlin and Justin Kennedy; great-grandmother of Alison and Alexis Fatlan and Caeden Curran; also survived by her loving husband of 20 years, William Abel and his family, Linda Abel, Diana Abel and Shari (Verlin) Johnson and their six children; loving sister of Jack (Peggy) Dwyer and Joe (Margie) Dwyer; sister-in-law of Richard (Priscilla) Curran and Julie Heilman; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Eugene Curran (1987); one brother-in-law, John Heilman; and son, Michael Abel. Funeral services for Germaine Curran Abel will be Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonatus, where all friends and relatives are invited to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. As it was her request, Cremation Rites will follow Mass. Private inurnment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Jude Childrens Hospital would be appreciated. FRED C.
