Obituary of Peter Senffner
Senffner, Peter J.
Age 92. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. A United States WWII veteran of the Navy, he served in the Pacific Theater during the entire WWII and was stationed on the U.S.S. Raleigh at Pearl Harbor the day of the attack December 7, 1941. He was serving on another ship at the signing of the surrender in Japan in August 1945. He participated in 35 invasions during his tour in WWII.
Preceded by his beloved wife of 47 years, Anne Marie (nee Tomsich) Senffner (1997); his parents, John and Anna (nee Tomac) Senffer; two sisters, Mary A. Podobnik and Margaret Hinz; one brother, John Senffner.
Survived by one brother, Anthony Senffner; one sister, Cecelia Barra; special caregivers, nieces Sr. Geraldine J. Podobnik O.S.F. and Susan A. (Michael) Fittro of Cedar Rapids, IA; and several other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral Services for Peter J. Senffner will be Thursday, May 24, 2012 at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 706 N. Broadway, Joliet where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary Nativity Cemetery. Visitation at the church THURSDAY MORNING from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Arrangements by:
