Obituary of Ronald Shreffler
Ronald G. Shreffler
Age 77. Passed away peacefully Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Provena Villa Franciscan Nursing Home. Born in Joliet, he was a lifelong Joliet area resident. A. U.S. Navy veteran. Retired in 1997 as a Union electrician with Local #176 after over 30 years of service. A 20 year member of the Joliet Legion Band and a member of the Racine Kilties Drum & Bugle Corp. Ron was, for many years, the percussion line instructor for the Joliet Township West High School Marching Tigers Band. His drum line arrangements written for technical difficulty brought the Joliet West Drum Line many State championships.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Ruth Johnson and Brenda Ericson of Touching Hearts at Home for making dad's last years the best they could be.
Survived by one son, Robert (Shary) Shreffler of Orlando, FL; three grandsons, Matt, Bradley and Travis; two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Isaac Robert Cavanagh.
Preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Kathleen M. (nee Shannon) Shreffler (1999); one son, Steven A. Shreffler (2006).
Funeral Services for Ronald G. Shreffler will be Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. As it was Ron's request, Cremation Rites will be accorded following funeral services with interment to take place privately at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
