Albert M. Smith
Age 81. Passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Morris Hospital. Born in Madison, WI. A longtime Lockport area resident and a resident of Morris the past 18 years. A Korean Conflict U.S. Army Veteran. Retired from Valley View School District 365U after 24 years of service in 1996, where he received the V.V. School Employee of the Year and the Coca Cola Educator of the Month. Albert was a member of Lockport John Olson American Legion Post #18, Morris American Legion Post #294, Lockport VFW Post #5788, and the Walter Sherry Chapter Izaak Walton League of America. He received the Key to the village of Bolingbrook by Mayor Roger Claar. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Preceded by his parents, Albert E. and Jessie E. (nee Monate) Smith; one sister, Rose Marie Foth; one brother, Roger David Smith; and one granddaughter, Allie Rivera.
Survived by his loving wife of 60 years Doris J. (nee Pray) Smith of Morris. Three daughters, Dr. Pat (Don) Kupina of Crest Hill, Joan Beich-Amling of North Aurora and Sandra Bowen of Eastpoint, Florida; two sons, Albert E. (JoAnne) Smith of Plainfield and Keith (fiancee Jeannie) Smith of Channahon. One sister Nancy (late Frank) Niebauer of Black Mountain, NC. His grandchildren, Amanda (Justin) Wagner and Donny Kupina; Albert E. Jr., Mike and Bob Smith; Brad and Matt Beich and Rebecca (Robert) Bacci; Sabrina (Josh) Stevens and David Bowen; Kevin and Kelsey Smith and Bryan, Chris and Joe Rivera. His great-grandchildren, Heather and Rose Smith, Kayla Wagner and Isabella Bacci.
Funeral services for Albert M. Smith will be Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. from the funeral home to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery for services at 11:00 a.m., where full Military Honors will be accorded. Visitation Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. at:
