Obituary of Sharon Smithson

Sharon L. Smithson (nee Lipsey) Age 62. Peacefully, Thursday November 26, 2009 at Silver Cross Hospital. Born in Joliet, and a lifelong Joliet area resident. A graduate of Joliet Central High School. Sharon was a volunteer at the Guardian Angel Home, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and a member of the Joliet Jewish Congregation and Hadassah. Preceded by her mother Theresa "Jeri" (nee Palermo) Lipsey. Survived by two daughters, Tammy Abdulghani of West DesMoines, IA and Kim (Bob) Libman of Plainfield; one son, John Elliott of Rockdale; five grandchildren, Ben Kozuh, Logan and Ameena Abdulghani, Alex and Josh Libman; her father, William "Bill" Lipsey of Joliet; and two sisters, Nancy Malmfeldt and Rose (John) DelRose both of Joliet; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for Sharon L. Smithson will be Sunday, November 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Rabbi Charles Rubovitz, officiating. As it was Sharon's request, cremation rites will be accorded following funeral services with private inurnment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
