Mary Solomos
Age 86, of Joliet, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007. A resident of Sunny Hill Rehabilitation Center. Born on February 28, 1921, she was a lifelong resident of Joliet. Daughter of Frank and Margaret (nee Pouloudis) Solomos.
Mary is survived by her loving sister, Ann Oquist of Pembrooke Pines, FL; devoted nieces and nephews, Margaret (James) Gray, Nicki and Christine Ladas of Gilbert, AZ, Dr. Cheri Oquist, Mark (MEP) Oquist, and Dr. Niki (Lisa) Oquist; great-nephews and great-nieces, Joseph (Michelle) Oquist, Eric and Nicholas Gray, Jonathan Heye, Christopher, John, Mark, Jack, Anna-Vija, Alex and Emily Oquist; great-great-niece, Samantha Moeller-Gray; special godson, Paul (Alexandra) Harris; cousins, Frances Leckrone, Frances Iskalis, John Haniotes, Mary (Jim) Purrazo, Frances (Jim) Kurtenbach and Tom (Sue) Roach; and numerous other cousins.
Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Ladas; brother, George Solomos; and nephew, Gusty Ladas.
Mary was a lifelong member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. A charter member of Daughters of Penelope, and an active member of the Joliet Artist League for many years.
All friends and relatives are invited to meet on Friday, November 16, 2007 at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 N. Broadway, Joliet for services at 9:00 a.m. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 4-8 p.m., with Trisagion Services at 7:30 p.m. at:
