Obituary of Richard Stern
Richard J. Stern
Age 91. Suddenly, Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at his late residence, following a battle with congenital heart failure. Born in Joliet, he was a lifelong Joliet area resident. Attended Joliet Township High School and Parks Elementary School. A decorated WWII U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He retired from Thomas Motors as an auto salesman, and was an auto salesman in the Joliet area for over 50 years. Member of the VFW Post #15014.
Preceded in death by his wife, Chrysanthe (nee Gabriel) Stern (1994); his parents, Morris and Rachel Stern; two sisters, Lillian (Ed) Friedman and Frances Stern; two brothers, Irving (Helen) Stern and Manning (Maxine) Stern.
Survived by one son, Greg Stern, Sr. of Joliet; one daughter, Kris Sandra (John) Wheatley of Naperville; two grandsons, Greg Stern, Jr. and Daniel Stern; and one granddaughter, Stephanie (Tizoc) Landeros all of Joliet; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Isabella, Tizoc, Jr. and Lexie; one niece, Rosalind (Eddie Don) Nussbaum; and one nephew, Joel (Renee) Stern also survive.
Funeral Services for Richard J. Stern will be Friday, May 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, Rabbi Charles Rubovits officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation today, Thursday, 2-8 p.m. at:
