Obituary of Raymond Sula
Raymond R. Sula
Age 81, a lifetime Joliet resident, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born February 12, 1930 to the late Joseph P. and Mary (nee Banas) Sula. He attended St. Bernards Grade School and graduated with the class of 1948 from Joliet Catholic High School. A US Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Beloved husband of 57 years to Rita J. (nee Komp) Sula; Loving brother of Helen (William) Keigher; Dear brother-in-law of James (Marijo) Komp and William (Lavonne) Komp. Numerous nieces and nephews of the Komp and Sula families, also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents; Six siblings, Steve (late Rose) Sula, Mary (late Victor) Kasper, Joseph (Maryann) Sula, Elsie (late Stewart) Rollinson, George (late Joan) Sula and Carl (Carolynn) Sula. One sister-in-law Evelyn (late Joseph) Berta and one brother-in-law Paul J. (Esther) Komp.
Ray retired as a Superintendent of Chicago Sand and Gravel Co., after 50 years of service. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and their former bowling team and Men's club. He was also a member of VFW Cantigny Post #367 and the Old Timers Baseball Association. Ray was an avid golfer, who recorded six holes-in-one at Inwood Park over the span of ten years, following his retirement.
Funeral services for Raymond R. Sula wil be held Tuesday, July 12, 2011, 9:15 am from the funeral home to St. John Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Masses or memorials in his name to your favorite charity would be appreciated. Visitation Monday 4-8 p.m. at:
