Sullivan, Carol Marie
(nee Koziol)
Age 56. Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 7, 1956. She worked for the Joliet Public School District #86 for 34 years. She began her career at Lincoln Grade School in 1978, and in 1979 taught 5th, 6th and 7th grades at Washington Junior High where she remained for 14 years before going to Culbertson from 1993-1997. In 1998 she worked as a Resource Specialist at Eisenhower Academy until her retirement in May 2012.
Survived by her loving husband, Dan Sullivan of Minooka; her mother, Adelle (nee Borawski) Koziol; two sisters, Christine Feeney and Sandra (John) Domagalski; brother-in-law, John (Gloria) Sullivan; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Al) Stubler and Sue (Ray) Sanchez; numerous nieces and nephews; dear aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many dear friends.
Preceded in death by her father, Harry W. Koziol (2010).
Carol loved to dance with her husband, and enjoyed reading, traveling and teaching. She had an incredible, gentle strength along with a quiet but courageous determination which always led her to persevere during trying times. A role model and inspiration to all who knew her, she was a loving wife, dear daughter, trusted sister, loyal friend and dedicated educator. Her ladylike demeanor along with her quiet dignity and grace will always be remembered.
Carol will be greatly missed and always cherished by her loving family, dear friends and countless students whose lives she touched.
Funeral Services for Carol M. Sullivan will be Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Ann Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Willard Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Friday 3-8 p.m. at:
