Genevieve Julia Tallman
"Ruby"
(nee Penkauskas)
Age 94. Passed away peacefully Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center with her family at her side. Born January 2, 1914 in Rockdale to the late August and Julia (Stogis) Penkauskas, she lived for a time in East Gary, IN before returning to Rockdale in 1946. She attended Rockdale Grade School and Joliet Township High School. Owner and operator of Bill's Tavern in Rockdale with her husband William for over 50 years.
Ruby was pain free and active up until the final two weeks of her life. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, shopping and spending time with her family. She was an avid Cubs fan. Ruby loved to bowl, and had recently bowled in the Senior League at Town & Country.
She is survived by her children Arlene (George) Plese and William "Bud" Tallman, Jr.; grandchildren, Cheryl (Michael) Delrose, Cynthia (Theodore) Jarz and Vicky (John) Ramuta; great- grandchildren, Chad, Alyssa, Rachel, Michael, Matthew and Jacob; sister-in-law, Kay Penkauskas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William Tallman, Sr. (1989); her parents; and brothers, Joseph and Ludwig.
A Memorial Mass for Ruby Tallman will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale at 10:00 a.m. Private family interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park at a later time. Cremation rites have been accorded. Family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Arrangements by:
