On Sunday, June 26, 2011 Robert A. Thompson, late of Elwood, IL, with his wife of 49 years, Kaye C. (Delaney) Thompson and four daughters, Deborah M. (Chris) Holt of Elwood, Patricia A. (Scott) Smith of Bradley, Sharon S. (Steve Lohmar) Thompson of Minooka, and Lora K. Thompson of Elwood, and his very special buddy, Gus, by his side, went to rest in heaven.
Surviving are four precious grandchildren he so dearly loved, Hanna Holt, Rachel and Sophia Wilhelmi, and Robby Smith. Also surviving are one sister, Betty Malone of Newark, IL; two brothers, Jerry (Jean) Thompson of Millbrook, IL and Douglas (Joan) Thompson of Newark; an uncle, Stanley (Lillian) Thompson of Yorkville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert A. Thompson, Jr.; his father and mother, William A. (Aug. 7, 1971) and Frances (May 5, 2010) Thompson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald J. and Anarita (Sherlock) Delaney.
He worked for Brown & Lambrecht, and T.J. Lambrecht since 1964, retiring in August 2007. Member of Local #150 Operating Engineers since 1959. A 50 year member receiving his 50 year gold pin in 2009.
Bob loved his family and riding his John Deere lawnmowers. He was loved by so many and will be truly missed by all.
Funeral Services for Robert A. Thompson will be Thursday, June 30, 2001 at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manhattan for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Manhattan. Visitation Wednesday 2-8 p.m. at:
