Obituary of Madge Thorington

Madge M. Thorington (nee Rositch) Age 91, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2009 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Her career helping others began as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital, where she was a graduate of their School of Nursing. After many years of working for the Krohne Agency, she purchased the company and grew it into a thriving enterprise. A self-employed tax accountant for over 60 years, she retired at age 88. Madge was an active parishioner and supporter at St. Patrick Church and President of the St. Pat's Mothers Club for many years. Known to many as "Mom Madge", she was protector and caregiver to her "Apple Dumpling Gang." She was loved and respected by everyone in her community, and was a strong nurturing force in so many lives. Preceded by her loving husband, Ray, in 1982 and her legendary son, Jack, in 1971. Surviving are her adoring grandchildren, Jane Thorington (Jim) Woods, Michael (Erin) Thorington, and Maureen Thorington Rochester; and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Gabrielle, and Ross Woods and Jack Thorington. Also surviving are many wonderful friends and earth angels. Funeral services for Madge Thorington will be Friday, February 13, 2009 at 11:15 a.m. from Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home to St. Patrick Catholic Church for Mass at 12:00 p.m. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Adopt-A-Child program in honor of Madge M. Thorington at St. Patrick School, 710 W. Marion Street, Joliet, IL 60435.
