Ardis B. Thorpe
(nee Markgraf)
Age 87. Peacefully Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side. A Joliet resident until 1961 when Ardis and her family moved to Seneca to build Spring Brook Marina. In 1982 Ardis and her husband retired to Florida where they were very active in the AACA ( Antique Auto Club of America). Her two greatest loves in life were officiating as a Judge for the AACA and traveling the country in their motor home.
Preceded by her husband, Robert J. Thorpe (2001), her parents and one sister, Carol (nee Markgraf) Berg.
Survived by one daughter, Sharon Davis of Sheffield, IL; one son James Thorpe of Morris.; four grandchildren, Mark (Kim) Wollerman, Karl Wollerman both of Sheffield, Steve (Bridget) Thorpe and Tammy (Mike) Murphy both of Seneca; 6 great-grandchildren, Keegan Murphy, Spencer Thorpe, Hope and Max Wollerman, Karl Wollerman and Mark Wollerman. Her faithful feline companion Korky also survives.
Funeral services for Ardis B. Thorpe will be held Friday, January 22, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory to Grundy County Hospice or the United Way of Grundy County would be appreciated. Visitation Friday at 9 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Arrangements by:
