George R. Turnell, Sr.
"Senior"
Age 63. Saturday, September 6,2008 at Hines VA Hospital as the result of congestive heart failure. Born in Chicago and a lifelong Chicagoland resident before retiring to Princeton six years ago. A U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Retired from American Bank Note Printing Company in Bedford Park after over 20 years of service. Formerly employed by GBF Printing of Princeton, IL. A member of Union Local #8B Following his retirement, he was a Wal-Mart Greeter in Princeton, IL. Some of his greatest loves were professional photography, antique cars and car shows, coffee, cigarettes, Elvis music and Levi's jeans, he would not try anything else. George's quote was " I'd rather be right than President".
Preceded by his parents, George H. and Mildred Turnell.
Survived by his former wife, Linda Turnell of Downers Grove; one daughter, Dawn (Brian) Moore of Shorewood; one son, George R. (Amy) Turnell Jr. of Minooka; two grandchildren, Trevor and Quinn; two sisters, Linnea (Kenny) Blazevich and Deb (Tom) Haavig; and former sister-in-law, Peg Turnell. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for George R. Turnell, Sr. will be Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 3-8 p.m. at:
