Obituary of John Ulrich

Ulrich, John R. Age 69, of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully, at home with his family at his side, Tuesday, August 28, 2012. He was born March 16, 1943 in Chicago, IL to the late Islay and George Ulrich, he was raised in Joliet, attending Joliet Catholic High School and Joliet Junior College. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Flora (nee Spanidis); loving father of Anna Love, Harriet Prieboy and Josh Thomas; proud "Gramps" of Danielle Love, Michael Prieboy and Jacob Love. Dear brother of Robert James Ulrich (Maria); caring son-in-law of Anna "Yia Yia" Spanidis; fond brother-in-law of John Spanidis, Tina and Tony Xydakis. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by his parents. John retired from Northern Illinois Steel Supply Co., a family owned company he truly loved working for since the age of 19. In his free time, he enjoyed sports, from playing football at Joliet Catholic, to coaching his son and grandsons baseball teams to watching and rooting on the Bears and Kentucky Wildcats. He also enjoyed taking drives and especially spending time with his grandchildren. The Ulrich family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Robert W. Schubert; his care, support and friendship meant the world to John. Funeral Services for John Ulrich will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012, 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. As it was Johns wish, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
