Obituary of John Horn
John R. Van Horn
Age 81. Passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. John was born January 24, 1928 in Lockport to the late Neil and Rose Van Horn. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for both Meadow Gold Dairy and the Joliet Herald News for over 30 years; and previously worked for Dairy Crombie. He faithfully delivered the Herald News to his devoted customers until just over a year ago. He was also an active member of the Rivals Club and Teamsters Local #179, where he served as a Trustee.
Survived by his devoted daughter, Yvonne of Joliet; and his sister, Rosemary (Ted) Tonelli of Joliet. He will also be sadly missed by his beloved friends, Deborah "Bubbles" and James Poulos of Joliet and their son, Corporal Christopher Poulos, USMC.
Preceded in death by his wives, Ann (nee Roder) Van Horn (1982) and Constance (nee Hudar) Van Horn (2002); and one brother.
Funeral Services for John R. Van Horn will be Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, with Pastor David Nygard officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. at:
