Veras, Margaret B.
(nee Backlin)
Age 90. Peacefully Thursday, January 20, 2011 at The Tillers in Oswego, with her family by her side. Born April 4, 1920 in Chicago to the late Ernest and Sarah (nee McGarry) Backlin and a Joliet resident for the past 51 years. Margaret was a strong woman and a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed bowling, exercise, picnics with her family, and supported and assisted her children in all their endeavors. She had a great love of life.
Loving mother of Richard (Teri) Veras of Chicago, Marguerite (Norman) Stoiber of Crest Hill, Edward (Mary) Veras of Aurora, Barbara (Michael) Nadeau of Plano, and Susan (Mark) Pellegrini of Danville; beloved grandmother of Sarah Veras, Tom (Jessie) Stoiber, Brian Stoiber, Andrew (Wendy) Nadeau, Scott Nadeau, Peter Nadeau, Sean Nadeau, Matthew Pellegrini, Nick Pellegrini and Adam Pellegrini; proud great-grandmother of Dominique Nadeau, Tyler Stoiber, Ryan Stoiber and Cameron Nadeau; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Aloysius (2010); parents; siblings, Ernest "Lee" (Rita) Backlin, Helen (Leo) Popko and John "Jack" Backlin.
Funeral Services for Margaret B. Veras will be Monday, January 24, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Senior Services Center Meals On Wheels of Will County or a charity of the donor's choice, would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 3-8 p.m. at:
