Obituary of Wayne Vercellotti

Wayne L. Vercellotti Age 72. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hosipce Home. Born in Joliet, he was a lifelong Joliet area resident. Wayne was a resident of the Encore Alzheimers Residence in Naples, FL, and was brought home to Joliet for his final days. A graduate of Notre Dame Class of 1957, Joliet Catholic High School and Sacred Heart Grade School. Former owner and operator of Friedrich Bindery. A former Joliet Park Board President and Director, he was also a member of the Joliet Park District Foundation, and the Knights of Columbus Council #382. Former member of the Joliet Country Club, the Kiwanis Club, University of Notre Dame Alumni, and the Sorin Society of Notre Dame. A member of the National Amputee Golf Association, Wayne was inducted into the Joliet Sports Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in golfing in August 2008. Preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Alice (nee Ready) Vercellotti; and his in-laws, Paul and Bernice (nee Resler) Friedrich. Survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara Vercellotti of Joliet; one daughter, Janet (Lawrence) Madrigal of Joliet; two sons, Dr. Paul (Rebecca) Vercellotti of Shorewood and Douglas (Debra) Vercellotti of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Madrigal; Cody and Jack Vercellotti; Jennifer, Stephanie and Amanda Vercellotti; aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for Wayne L. Vercellotti will be Monday, October 27, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Catholic Academy, the Alzheimer's Foundation, Joliet Area Community Hospice or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
