Obituary of Lucille Vertin

Lucille M. Vertin "Lucy" Age 82. Peacefully, Saturday, February 5th, 2011, at her home with her family by her side. Born in Joliet and a lifelong Shorewood/Troy Township area resident. A graduate of the College of St. Francis, St. Francis Academy, and St. Raymond Grade School. After teaching at Reed Custer Township High School from 1950-1954, she married and dedicated her life to her family. Lucille was an enthusiastic volunteer for many organizations including Holy Family Parish, School and Women's Club, St. Francis Academy and College of St. Francis Alumnae Associations, and the Joliet Catholic Grade School and High School Band parents associations. In 1980 she was named C.C.W. Woman of the Year. Preceded by her parents, Edward F, and Margaret (nee Cronin)Larkin. Survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Steve J. Vertin of Shorewood; one daughter, Mary Ellen (Vic) Reato of Morris,IL; three sons, Stephen E. (Annette) of Campus, IL, Thomas (Diane) of Troy Township, and Joseph (Susan) of Indianapolis,IN; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine (Robert) Kuzma of Joliet, and one brother Edward P. Larkin of Troy Township. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The Vertin Family would like to thank the staff of Provena Home Health Care, Comfort Keepers, Advantage Homecare and Joliet Area Community Hospice for their professional and heartfelt care. Your help will be forever remembered in our hearts. Funeral services for Lucille M. Vertin will be Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 9:15am from the funeral home chapel to Holy Family Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Family Parish or Joliet Area Community Hospice in her name would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, from 2-8 p.m. at: FRED C.
